- What
Once almost-secret and now just crowded, this neighborhood favorite serves American comfort standards... as if they existed in the 1890's... or at least wanted to.
Meat heavy fare in an aged and taxidermied saloon is the vibe, or maybe rustic American cave-restaurant. But a cave in the back of an alley, and underneath a bowery apartment building... Only thing to avoid are prime time hours-as per the rule de course for most of this neighborhood. And even if you have to wait (which you will)... their two bars are perfect places to kill time, or even a destination of themselves.
- Why
Bar cocktails (all of them), Crowds, Smoking in an alleyway, Chicken Liver Pate, devils of horseback.
